 Globe Program

NASA's GLOBE Program, active in 107 countries, provides the opportunity for integrated language and content instruction, weaving interdisciplinary lessons in science, mathematics, social studies, language arts and world cultures into everyday classroom teaching through an extensive Web environment. GLOBE partners represent over half the countries in the world, and the program naturally provides authentic content resources for language teachers in all six United Nations' languages, with many more materials becoming available in other languages. GLOBE provides learners opportunities to participate in challenging interdisciplinary projects with classroom-ready materials for both foreign and second language instruction. To find out more information about how GLOBE can be used in the language classroom go to: http://www.globe.gov/fsl/html/templ.cgi?actfl_2005&lang=en&nav=1

How can you join the GLOBE Program?  All GLOBE activities are conducted under the guidance of GLOBE-trained teachers. The first step in becoming a GLOBE teacher in your school is to attend a training workshop in your state. Click on the link "U.S. Partners" located on the side bar of the GLOBE home page at www.globe.gov to access information for your state. We encourage training teams to consist of at least 3 teachers representing different content areas from each school to support
interdisciplinary implementation of the program (eg. science teacher, technology teacher, language teacher).
